    Description

    This lovely old
rare Dutch Cloth doll was originally owned and enjoyed by Elizabeth Montgomery as a child. Best known for her role as Samantha Stephen's on Bewitched in the 1960s - 70s, Elizabeth was also a collector of dolls, toys, miniatures, toy horses, costume jewelry and much more.
According to the old Christmas snowman tag still attached to this darling doll, it says that Elizabeth received this doll from Santa Claus in her 6th year of her life (1939).
Though as you can see in our pics here, there are some areas on her face where the paint has rubbed off, and the off white cloth shows under it, however, the doll is otherwise in wonderful condition, wears her original clothes, her blond yard hair is intact under her blue hat and she still wears her original wooden shoes.
Elizabeth kept her in fine condition. She has the sweetest expression on her face and her body has an old fashioned floral pattern definitely from long ago.
She stands nearly 11 tall from the tippy top of her pointed hat to the bottom of her adorable real wood wooden clogs.
During the long years of research for 2 new books now being written about stars and the collectibles they owned from their personal lives, and props from their films and TV shows, the author had the rare chance to meet and interview Elizabeth Montgomery(His grandfather worked with the star on Bewitched). Elizabeth invited the author to her home and there he saw her doll & toy collection.
Elizabeth told him about some of her dolls from her own childhood were used as props throughout her career in films and television. "
I often rented some of my own toys to the show as props in the children's bedroom or under the Christmas tree in our holiday episodes
    .
" - - Elizabeth Montgomery (one of many quotes that will appear in the new books).
The doll was sold by Elizabeth's family after her death in 1995 at the yard sale and a special auction which the money raised was donated to AIDS research at Elizabeth's last request. Our client actually knew Elizabeth as she worked on Bewitched in wardrobe and props and remembered carefully handling this and other old dolls from Eliizabeth's collection used as props on Bewitched. She attended the sales and bought extensively for her own collection and now all these years later, she has consigned threm with our firm to sell on her behalf.
She has kept these extra special pieces in her prestigious film prop collection and has loaned them to Hollywood themed museums, including one owned by Debbie Reynolds.
